Artikel ini membahas modernisasi peran dan fungsi masjid dalam upaya membangun umat Islam berkemajuan. Data artikel ini diperoleh dari sumber kepustakaan yang dianalisis dengan metode analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Pendekatan analisis menggunakan teologi Islam dan sosiologi agama serta manajemen organisasi. Artikel ini menemukan bahwa banyak model peran, fungsi, dan bentuk pelayanan masjid yang semakin kompleks di era modern. Masjid tidak hanya sekedar tempat ibadah ritual keagamaan, tetapi masjid semakin berkontribusi dalam pembangunan sosial budaya, sosial agama, sosial ekonomi, dan bahkan sosial politik masyarakat Islam. Berdasarkan temuan-temuan ini, artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa peran dan fungsi masjid bukan hanya terlihat terus berubah, namun perannya semakin besar dan modern di era kontemporer.
